How I Read Books Tag

Time for another book tag!

I found the How I Read Books Tag from a few blogs: Zezee with Books and Blogging with Dragons.

These questions are pretty interesting and much easier to write than a book review haha. Let’s get started!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I don’t have a specific place really, but there are two that I tend to read at, the most. One is the sofa in the living room. I’m usually reclining on it whenever I’m home (A complete couch potato lol), reading books, or working on this blog. The second place is the bed. I’ve got the bad habit of reading before sleeping. I love to end the day by reading my favorite romance books.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I cannot stop reading in the middle of a chapter. I have to finish the chapter. I’ll stop mid-chapter only if there’s something urgent I need to do. If it’s an ARC I need to review, I’ll set a target – but only if I’m not enjoying it. If it’s a book I’m completely into, I don’t think I would stop reading till I finished it lol.

Bookmark or Random piece of paper?

Random piece of paper or anything that I find lying around near me (bill, pen, chocolate or the wrapper, handkerchief, keys, cash, phone). I have a bookmark or two, but I rarely use them. I tend to misplace them.

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I prefer calm and peaceful surrounding while reading. Although the TV doesn’t bother me much, there are days when I just can’t get into the book because the noise is louder. I don’t listen to music while reading because it’s very distracting.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Yes and no. I don’t need them while reading, but I usually read books during lunch or dinner rather than watching TV.

Reading at home or everywhere?

The majority of the time, I prefer reading at home, but if I’m traveling for a day, I’ll sneak in some reading time if I’m bored listening to music.

One book at a time or several at once?

One book at a time. I need the book to completely hold my attention. I’ll only read several at once if they are in different formats – like an ebook and an audiobook or paperback.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head! So when I was at school, I used to read textbooks out loud because I needed to not fall asleep. With the romance books that I usually read, it’s in my head.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

When the book I’m reading isn’t doing that well for me, or if the pace is too slow, I’ll skim through the pages till something interesting happens. When I start a Dark Romance (which is more on the darker side), I’ll read the end just to prepare myself for the heartache.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Keeping it like new. I love to preserve the limited paperbacks that I have and keep them all in good condition.

Do you write in your books?

NO! I’ve thought about annotating, but I fear spoiling the paper.

What do you do first – Read or Watch?

I’d read first before watching. Whenever a series or a movie drags, I’ll read the complete plot on Wikipedia just to understand the story. I like to read first, as I can visualize the story in my way, get into the head of the characters, and just enjoy all the emotions – which the movies miss half the time.

What form do you prefer – Audiobook, E-Reader, or Physical Book?

E-book or Paperback. I seem to read ebooks faster. But when I’m reading Paperbacks, my reading speed slows down.

Do Book Series have to match?

If this question means the size of the paperbacks, the font, and the cover designs of the front and the back, yes, they need to match.

When do you find yourself reading? Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Whenever you get the chance, or All the time?

All the time. But these days, it’s whenever I get the chance. With work taking over most of my weekdays (and sometimes weekends) I read at night once I’m home.

Do you have a unique habit when you read?

Not really, I am a regular reader who has to keep her paperbacks in good condition, always on the lookout for new books on Kindle Unlimited and scrolling through Bookstagram for recommendations.

Hope you enjoyed reading my version of the How I read Books tag! Do we have something in common?
