Twisted Kingdom Review (Spoilers)
Twisted Kingdom is an explosive and emotional conclusion to Aiden and Elsa’s story. This book finally reveals the truth behind Elsa’s past while pushing their obsessive relationship to its limits.
If you love possessive anti-heroes, intense chemistry, suspense, and dark academy romance, this trilogy absolutely delivers.
Do Aiden and Elsa End Up Together?
Yes, but Rina Kent definitely makes them work for their happy ending. After everything that happens in the first two books, trust is shattered between them, and rebuilding it becomes one of the strongest parts of this book.
Sometimes the king is a woman
I loved Elsa Steel’s character development in this book! After the shocking ending of Steel Princess and all the revelations that follow, Elsa is left completely lost about what to do next. Her father is alive, she has foster siblings she can’t remember from her childhood, and to make matters worse, Aiden is engaged to Silver — her biggest enemy.
Although all the secrets set her back initially, they only strengthen her. She isn’t willing to let Aiden slide right back into her life. She is resilient, has a darkness of her own, and doesn’t let Aiden railroad her.
It’s been an intense journey discovering her past and reeling from all the feelings.
“What I feel for you isn’t only love, obsession, or addiction. It’s all of those and more. Do you know what that means, sweetheart? It means I can’t live without you, so don’t you fucking dare leave me.”
Seriously, what is it about these dark heroes? I LOVE Aiden. He is still that dark, crazy, alpha hole with a faulty moral compass. He realizes that his games and secrets are finally catching up to him, but Elsa is IT for him, and he’ll do anything to get her back.
Jonathan King almost ruined their relationship at the end of Steel Princess, but he will allow no one to hurt Elsa anymore.
“I couldn’t care less about families clashing. I’ve already taken a side and it’s Elsa’s.”
Aiden is completely obsessed with Elsa, and you can feel it in every single one of his POV chapters. No matter what’s happening around him, his thoughts always circle back to her.
He’s possessive, jealous whenever another guy gets too close, and absolutely wrecked over the fact that she’s shut him out. Beneath all his manipulations and control, it’s obvious that Aiden genuinely loves her and can’t imagine surviving without her.
It’s finally clear why Aiden targeted Elsa in the first book. He is more vulnerable in this book, and I think I fell for him more.
“There hasn’t been a day where I haven’t thought about you. Every time I manage to sleep, I dream of you. You were my obsession since we were kids, but now it’s way fucking worse. I don’t know how I managed to spend eight years without you in my life when now I suffocate if I don’t see you for hours.” My eyes fill with tears. “Aiden…” “Choose me, Elsa. Choose us.”
The chemistry in this book – the entire three books – is scorching!
Their relationship is incredibly angsty because of all the buried secrets and the twisted circumstances surrounding their first meeting. Elsa is completely unaware of the truth because of her memory loss, while Aiden has spent years becoming darker and more ruthless, obsessed with tearing down every wall she’s built around herself.
Reading Aiden and Elsa finally come together after everything they went through was honestly so satisfying. Their journey across all three books was messy, emotional, toxic, passionate, and completely addictive in the best way possible.
Conclusion
Even after several rereads, I still find myself wanting extra scenes, bonus chapters — honestly, anything featuring Aiden and Elsa.
Rina Kent wrapped up Aiden and Elsa’s journey beautifully. I’m genuinely in awe of how she brought their story together while balancing the suspense, mystery, emotional angst, and intense romance so well. The supporting characters added so much to the story too, making the entire trilogy even more addictive.
This was my first series by Rina Kent, and she has quickly become one of my go-to authors whenever I’m craving dark romances with obsessive heroes, emotional chaos, and unforgettable chemistry.
Blurb of Twisted Kingdom by Rina Kent
The kingdom isn’t supposed to fall.
The truth screws you over before it sets you free.
Masks drop.
Secrets unravel.
Elsa’s race after the past blinds her from the present.
I’ll fight for her.
I’ll bring her back.
I’ll protect her even if it’s the last thing I do.
We made a promise.
She’s mine.
Are you ready for one final game, sweetheart?
Twisted Kingdom is book three of Royal Elite Series and should be read after Deviant King & Steel Princess. This is a dark high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive.
This book is the final part of a trilogy and is NOT standalone.
