Hey, Bookworms!
I am in a writing slump right now. I can’t write reviews and I’m tired from all the pressure at work. So, I am back with a book tag because they are so fun and easy to do!
Here’s my take on the 20 Questions Book Tag featuring all interesting questions about books you’ve read. Some questions are challenging, like, what are my favorites…? I can’t pick just one, can you?
Well, here we go –
How many books is too many books in a series?
Well, I think more than 10? Especially if the story could have wrapped up in 8 or so books. I love longer books and a longer series if the world-building is stellar and I’m invested in the story. But I find it boring when one or two books in the series are nothing but fillers that don’t lead the story anywhere and have no character development.
One of my favorite Urban Fantasy Romance, Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews, is a ten-book series. It’s worth the time and read because no book is a filler and filled with intriguing and suspenseful plot.
How do you feel about cliffhangers?
I have a love-and-hate relationship with them haha.
I love them if all the books are out and I don’t have to wait like crazy. Or if I know the next book is going to be out in a month.
The last book that literally drove me crazy was A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire and The Crown of Gilded Bones from the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L Armentrout. I would always stalk the spoiler group for the teasers and read theories by other people.
I hate them if I have to wait for a year for the next book. A year, seriously?
As I update this post in 2025, Onyx Storm (Third in The Empyrean series) is out, and the cliffhanger in the second book was crazy!
Hardback or Paperback?
I prefer paperbacks because they are lighter to hold, can bend backward, and are easily transportable. I think with paperbacks, you can be a little careless too? Haha.
I don’t own a hardback, but if I did, I wouldn’t really read it. I’d just keep them on a shelf to look pretty.
Favorite Book?
I cannot pick just one favorite book. I’ve got several to choose from depending on the mood, genre, and author. Here are some of my favorites of 2021:
Looking for your next read? Check out my review for Deviant King by Rina Kent!
Least favorite book?
Well let’s go with the one I DNFed recently: Bright Midnight by Karina Halle.
Love Triangles: Yes or No?
NO. Reverse Harem has corrupted me lol. I mean, why choose?
With Love Triangles, it so happens that you might end up liking the other guy more than the hero. And I feel like one of them has suffered just for the other two to get the HEA?
The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?
Tyrant Stalker (Tyrant Dynasty #2) by Isabella Starling.
So I love Dark Romance, Stalker Dark Heroes, and even the angst. I like the push and pull, the ‘I hate you but I want you’ bit, but I felt this book dragged it out a lot. No character development at 50% mark so DNFed it.
A book you’re currently reading?
I just finished reading Inheritance (Monarchs of Hell, Book 3). It’s a Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance set in Hell and it was an interesting read!
The last book you recommended to someone?
Uh, I haven’t been recommending anyone books lately because I haven’t been reading a lot these days. But the one book I’m always recommending to people is A Nordic King by Karina Halle.
Oldest book you’ve read by publication date?
Pride and Prejudice. But I really don’t remember the story.
Newest book you’ve read by publication date?
Death (The Four Horsemen #4) which is one of my top favorite books in 2021.
Favorite author?
I HAVE GOT SO MANY! Shoutout to a few of them: Jennifer L Armentrout, Mariana Zapata, Anna Zaires, and probably more.
Buying books or borrowing books?
Both. Reading books is more of a luxurious hobby because they can get really expensive. I love Kindle Unlimited because I’ve read so many books without spending too much.
A book that you dislike that everyone else seems to love?
Canary and The Insiders by Tijan.
Tijan is an author I used to love. But the last two books I read by hers really didn’t hit the mark. Both were a 2.5 star reads for me and everyone loved them.
Bookmarks or dog-ears?
Bookmarks! Confession – I used to dog-ear the pages when I was in my teens.
A book you can always reread?
Do you ever find yourself recalling a book in images and flashbacks as if it were a movie you had watched and want to relive the experience?
I’ve got several in my reread list:
Can you read while hearing music?
No, they can distract me because I love listening to the lyrics as well as the music.
One or multiple povs?
Multiple POVs (‘Point of View’ – Check my guide on Romance Book Acronyms) when they are RH or Contemporary Romances.
One POV when it’s Suspenseful or Dark Romances where not knowing the main hero/anti-hero’s intention heightens the angst and tension.
Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?
Both. If it is a standalone novel or a duet or trilogy and I’m hooked to it, I’ll finish it in one sitting.
I’ve found that when I read a paperback, it takes me 2 to 3 days to finish it, and if it were an e-book, I’d have finished it in 1 day.
A book you’ve read because of the cover?
I am a picky reader and usually read the blurb or the reviews. Some books that caught my eye because of the cover were:
