To The Chase Book Review

To The Chase by Julia Wolf is a standalone novel from the Mile High Billionaires series. I haven’t read the other books in the series and didn’t feel like I was missing out. To The Chase is a sweet mix of dark-ish elements, found family, characters’ growth, and slow-burning love. The book left me with warm, fuzzy feelings.

The book follows Salvatore ‘Tore’ Gallo, CEO and founder of Nox Cyber, and Beatrice ‘Bea’ Novak, co-owner of a catering business in Denver. A couple of years ago, Tore and Bea had this instant love connection – both intrigued by one another, and they shared a magical date, opening up in ways they hadn’t with anyone else. However, right after that, Tore ghosts her.

Fast forward to the present, Bea and Tore cross paths again, bringing back Bea’s lost feelings, and Tore’s determination to win Bea back.

"You like the idea of being chased?"
"Maybe. If it was you who caught me."

Julia Wolf can do the “alpha male, tender, obsessive, possessive, stalker-ish, protective” hero really well. It’s like she has perfected the art of creating these men, which is why I’ve been devouring her books so quickly.

Salvatore Gallo is on the autism spectrum—neurodivergent—and I think the author wrote his character really well. He is straight-laced, knows what he wants, and works hard to get it. Salvatore is very loving and protective of the people in his close circle, and he has been caring for Bea for a long time—one of the major reasons how I fell for him.

I loved all his behind-the-scenes maneuvering, his ability to give Bea her space, and at the same time, his persistence in keeping her in his life. Despite his lightly dark tendencies, all he wants is to make her life easier.

Bea is strong despite all her past letdowns and hurts—she stands up for herself. She knows who she is now, after years of disappointments, including Tore’s disappearance. She is self-reliant and smart.

I loved her character, especially her acceptance of Tore without letting her own beliefs or values waver. She worked through her hurt, the secrets, and the mysteries in realistic ways, and her decisions always felt true to her character (and IRL).

“As much as I love that you want to go to bat for me, I’d rather you just stand by my side and in my arms. Can you be okay with that?”

Both characters’ growth, their dynamics, and their romance make up the heart of this book. Bea is wary, with her walls firmly in place, but Tore is efficient and dedicated in chasing her until those walls come down.

Bea and Tore are the perfect fated couple. The secrets between them didn’t lead to unnecessary drama; instead, they worked through them in their own ways and accepted each other fully.

Their romance is heartwarming, and by the end of the book, I respected Bea so much for being there for Tore. You just know they are these pieces of a puzzle fitting each other’s vulnerabilities and making them a stronger unit.

I also loved seeing the Gallo family interact with Bea and endear themselves to her. The way both families integrated into each other’s lives—with no interference from Salvatore—felt natural, like that final missing puzzle piece.

The integration of the latest technology – the AI chatbot assistant – was also fun to read! Pretty predictable, but didn’t we all wonder at one point with the way ChatGPT spoke, could it actually have been a person texting behind it?

The story alternates between past and present and is told from dual POVs. You really get to see both Bea and Tore’s perspectives—their hurts, their hopes, and their growth—which makes their love story feel all the more believable.

To The Chase is not just about a billionaire falling in love; it’s about two people learning to trust again and opening themselves up to vulnerability. Julia Wolf writes this dynamic so well.

I would recommend To The Chase by Julia Wolf to anyone who loves billionaire romances with strong character growth, balanced relationships, and found family vibes. If you enjoy a hero who falls first and hard, and doesn’t give up, paired with a heroine who knows her worth, this book will leave you warm, satisfied, and maybe even wishing for your own Gallo to come chasing after you.

Book Blurb:

I’ve never thought of myself as forgettable.

I’m confident. A little grumpy. I’m never afraid to speak my mind. I’ve got curves for days, and hair the color of a summer sky.

All that tends to leave an impression.

So when he shows up two years after ghosting me, acting like we’ve never met, I’m more thrown than I care to admit.

Salvatore Gallo is shy, brilliant, and only speaks when he means it. He’s the CEO of a billion-dollar cyber security company, but he blushes when I tease him and watches me like I’m a code he can’t quite crack.

He’s still the same man who made my heart flutter with a single, intense stare.

And now he’s asking for a second chance.

I should say no. I want to. But this time he’s not hiding how much he wants me and I’m as drawn to him as ever.

The problem? He is hiding other things. Like the three kids who’ve become his entire world. Choices he’s made. And a life I’m not sure I’m ready to be part of.

But Salvatore Gallo is patient. Persistent. Devastating in the way he shows up for me, again and again.

He’s chasing me, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep pretending I don’t want him to catch me.

She doesn’t believe in “guilty pleasures”, only pleasure. Reading about a plus size woman who gets absolutely railed by a hot rock star is pleasure. Reading about a damaged college student whose flaws are valued and loved by the grumpy guy next door is pleasure. Reading about love in a small town or big city or on a tour bus is pleasure. Reading romance is pleasure!

Julia lives in Maryland with her husband and three crazy, beautiful children. When she’s not writing romance, she’s reading it. Some of her favorite things are, in no particular order: goats, books, coffee, and Target.
