Bedeviled Book Review
Bedeviled by Laura Thalassa was my MOST ANTICIPATED read of 2026. Like, literally. After the way Bespelled ended and that emotional-as-heck trip back to their past in The Curse That Binds, I was DYING to get my hands on the final book.
If you have followed my reviews of the Bewitched series so far, you probably know that I devoured the books. And with Bedeviled? The moment I got my hands on the ARC (THANK YOU, NETGALLEY, LAURA AND THE PUBLISHERS), I jumped straight in without looking back.
And yes, I devoured this one too.
I was completely addicted to Memnon and Selene, desperately wanting to know how their relationship would pan out and how everything would finally come together. I genuinely couldn’t stop reading.
Although if I’m being honest, I was a little reluctant too. You know that feeling you get when you’re reading the final book in a series you’ve been following for years? You desperately want to know how everything ends, but at the same time, you don’t want to say goodbye to the characters you’ve become so obsessed with.
That’s exactly how I felt with Bedeviled.
It was incredibly bittersweet watching Memnon and Selene finally get their HEA and closing the book after rereading the epilogue twice because apparently I wasn’t ready to let them go.
“You’re wearing my ring, sleeping in my bed, and regularly climaxing against MY c*ck and my mouth. What is there for me to be worried about?”
Let me tell you this: if you hated Memnon in the first book, you are going to fall hard for him in Bedeviled. Like, wholeheartedly.
I’m not sure I’ve ever loved a villain-turned-hero this much. Memnon has officially become one of my favorite book boyfriends.
Memnon has changed so much, and you see it in the way he puts Selene’s needs and emotions before his own, even when the dark sorcery magic is pushing him in the opposite direction. He loves Selene.
And what got me the most was that he was willing to let her walk away from their deal, even though every instinct in him wanted otherwise. That says everything about how far he’s come.
Seeing him be protective, possessive, and completely devoted to Selene at every step of their journey absolutely melted my heart. But more than that, I loved seeing how much he cherished her.
Memnon has one of the best character developments I have read in a while.
“I am every bit a monster, est amage,” he says. “And if I were less of one, I would feel sorry that I am yours.” “Well,” I say. “I wouldn’t.” My eyes lift to him. “Monster or not, I am glad you’re mine.”
Selene? I wish I were her. Hands down, she is one of the best badass heroines I’ve read to date.
From dealing with amnesia to fighting her way through everything thrown at her, Selene has come such a long way. And I loved that she never lost that fierce love she had for Memnon. She was just as willing to burn the world down for him as he was for her.
But one of my favorite things about Selene’s journey was the way she and Roxilana blended together.
I never felt like Memnon loved Selene simply because she was Roxilana. Instead, I loved how Selene honored the woman she used to be while still becoming her own person in the present. And the way she tried to bring out the best of the past Roxilana? That honestly got to me.
It made me emotional thinking about the love Roxi had for Memnon and seeing that love continue to exist in a different way. There’s something incredibly bittersweet about watching Selene carry pieces of that past with her while still creating something entirely her own with Memnon.
“You are every hope, every joy, my deepest truth and sharpest yearning. Every breath I breathe is yours. I am yours. Forever.”
Memnon and Selene have one of the most amazing relationships I have read about. Obviously, not in the first two books. 😂
But after everything they went through and the devastating history between them, I loved watching them slowly mend what was broken, recover from the hurt, and work towards a healthier relationship.
By the time we get to Bedeviled, there’s such a different feeling to their relationship.
I loved seeing how settled they were after their marriage. They still had that fierce, obsessive, protective energy, but there was also so much trust and understanding between them.
And I especially loved that Selene reciprocated Memnon’s protectiveness.
They both know exactly what the other means to them, and neither of them is willing to sit back and watch the other get hurt.
They’ll sacrifice everything for each other, protect the little world they’ve created together, and stop at absolutely nothing to save one another.
After everything they’ve been through, they earned that HEA.
“Bargainer, I’d like to… make a deal?” “I’m retired, you know.”
Also, a special shoutout to THE BARGAINER! Never have I ever squealed so loudly while reading when I saw one of my favorite book boyfriends making an appearance.
And not only did he appear—he was actually a good part of their story too! (Without overshadowing them) I loved getting a glimpse of his HEA, and honestly, I was living for it.
And after reading the HEA of Selene and Memnon, I have officially started wondering if we’re going to get another crossover (Laura, I am looking at you lol)
“I think I do like even the scariest parts of you, Memnon.”
I have loved Laura Thalassa’s writing style in her more recent series, and Bedeviled absolutely lived up to my expectations.
I feel like she has really nailed the art of writing paranormal romance series with badass heroines, villain-turned-heroes, intricate plots, action, suspense, and romances that keep you completely hooked.
And that’s what makes this series work so well for me.
There’s a lot happening in Bedeviled, but the romance never gets lost underneath the plot. Memnon and Selene remain at the heart of the story, while the action, magic, suspense, and secondary characters keep everything moving.
I also really enjoyed the secondary characters and the way everything came together by the end.
Bedeviled ended on a really good note.
If you love reading about a villain with an incredible redemption arc, a heroine who grows into an even stronger version of herself, an intricate AF plot filled with action and suspense, amazing secondary characters, and a romance that will consume you, go read the Bewitched series.
And if you’ve already fallen in love with Memnon and Selene?
Prepare to be emotionally wrecked one last time.
