The Vixen's Lead Review:

The Vixen’s Lead by Tate James is one of the better reverse harems/why choose romances in the Kindle Unlimited universe. I am a fan of badass female characters and I’ll devour books featuring them, and the blurb promised to deliver just that.

Happy to write, that the heroine did live up to my expectations even though she got annoying at times.

On the surface, The Vixen’s Lead starts off as a normal story, however, eventually, there’s the addition of the paranormal element, which takes the heroine and her guys on a quest to find her past and consequently the truth about their world.

Christina ‘Kit’ Davenport is a high school student by day and ‘The Fox’ by night. On a path of vengeance, she seeks to punish those who wronged her as a kid.

However, her one mistake leads to her being caught by a team of agents from the ‘good’ agency who were tasked to capture her.

Kit is an interesting character—a badass who truly lives up to that description. She has endured a lot, carrying a traumatic past, yet she remains strong and fights her own battles. The book is mostly from her point of view, but I found her narrative a bit repetitive and the dialogues clichéd.

I loved the heroes in this series: River, Cole, Austin, Caleb and Wesley. Part of a secret investigative agency, they have been together for a long time and assigned a mission to capture The Fox.

The guys have a dynamic personality, each with their own pasts and traumas. We are not privy to their stories yet, as this book focuses more on Kit, and setting up the plot for the future books.

However, the glimpses of them are enough to want more of them and learn what drives and ticks them.

Kit’s chemistry with the guys is explosive, and she fits in seamlessly with the group. There’s a mix of tropes between them—enemies to lovers, instant lust, etc.—which may be a bit predictable but still make for a fun read.

The overall introduction to the series is good. The story is driven more by the plot – the revelation of the paranormal that sets the tone for the series. There are plenty of over-arching sub-plots leading to the ultimate climax, and there are a lot of people at play here to get what they want – including the agency Kit’s caught by, as well as the bad guys.

The Vixen’s Lead is a good start to a six-book series. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a PNR RH to check this one out.

The Vixen's Lead Blurb

I want vengeance so badly that I can almost taste it. It’s all I’ve ever wanted. So, I did what any privileged, adopted boarding school girl would do. I slapped on a secret identity and became an internationally renowned thief, known as The Fox. Nobody knows me. Nobody can catch me.

Or so I thought…

It turns out; I have what they want. Special abilities. And trust me, these abilities are coveted–and dangerous. Now, I don’t know who to trust or where to go. Peril lurks on every corner as I try to uncover my past and origin. Teaming up with unlikely allies may be my only chance at survival or my biggest mistake. Only time will tell.

I’m Kit Davenport and this is only the beginning.

** Warning: This book contains a kick-ass heroine with several sexy men (#whychoose), violence, bad-language and content which some readers may find triggering. **

About Tate James:

Tate James is a USA Today Bestselling Author of Contemporary Romance and Suspense Romance, with occasional forays into Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, and Urban Fantasy. She was born and raised in Aotearoa (New Zealand) but now lives in Australia with her husband and their adorable crotchfruit.

She is a lover of books, booze, cats and coffee and is most definitely not a morning person. Tate is a bit too sarcastic, swears far too much for polite society, and definitely tells too many dirty jokes.
